Synopsis

This study aims to discuss the importance of entrepreneurial orientation in improving MSME performance amid highly competitive markets. Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSME) have a strategic role in the national development of Indonesia, one of the countries with rapid MSME growth. MSME are a small-scale businesses growing and trying to level themselves up as major businesses. In spite of their size and scale, their contribution to the national economy and people’s economy is tremendous. However, MSME in Indonesia in general are still low in performance due to the low entrepreneurial orientation. Thus, in order to be able to improve their performance and to survive and compete in the domestic and international markets, MSME owners need to improve their entrepreneurial orientation. Further, entrepreneurial orientation with innovativeness, proactiveness and risk-taking actions can improve the performance of the MSME.
